What services are offered?

Hand therapy is the only service that is offered at this time. This is a non-urgent service, meaning we are not able to provide treatment that requires frequent sessions (such as multiple visits per week) or immediate post-operative care. At this time, our limited treatment availability is best suited for less urgent needs.

Additional Occupational Therapy services will be available in the near future.

What is hand therapy?

Hand therapy is rehabilitation of conditions affecting the upper extremity, specifically the hand, wrist and elbow. Hand therapy assists individuals in regaining function, strength, and mobility of their upper limbs so they can participate in meaningful activities.

PLEASE NOTE:If you are uncertain about what is causing pain and/or functional deficits, an assessment can be provided in order to come up with a treatment plan that works for you.

What conditions do you treat?

Hand therapy involves treatment to many conditions of the upper extremity, however, some of the conditions that would be applicable to the services offered and can be supported are:

 • Arthritis—osteoarthritis/CMC (thumb) & rheumatoid
 • Carpal tunnel
 • Trigger finger
 • Tendonitis/repetitive strain injuries
 • Distal radius fractures
 • Wrist conditions and/or injuries
 • Post cast removal stiffness
 • Neurological conditions—stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy & parkinson’s disease
 • Complex regional pain syndrome
 • Non-acute traumatic injuries—finger amputations, fractures and soft tissue
 • Functional limitations-range of motion, strength, dexterity & sensation

Custom splinting, silver ring splints  & pre-fabricated splint fitting to support your injury and/or condition are offered in conjunction with the service, if required.

What is the cost?

Initial assessment—$140 (50 minutes)

Follow-up—$70 (25 minutes)

Follow-up-$130 (55 minutes)

Mobile Services — $180 (50 minutes minimum)
A therapist will come to you within Saskatoon if you are unable to attend the clinic due to mobility limitations, travel restrictions, or scheduling conflicts.

Contact us directly for mobile therapy bookings as additional days will be available for this service. The schedule only reflects clinical days.

For locations outside Saskatoon city limits, rates will vary based on distance (km) and travel time. Please contact us directly for a quote.

Disclaimer: Sessions are scheduled in 30- and 60-minute intervals, with a small portion of that time reserved for your therapist to complete documentation due to time constraints for this type of service. This is to ensure your care is well-supported, consistent and collaborative with other health care professionals and insurers.

How do I book an appointment?

As the full webpage and schedule is not open yet (TBD), you can start by joining the waitlist, in which you will be notified when the schedule is open.

What should I bring to my appointment?

If you have any current or previous splints, it would be of benefit to bring them for your treating therapist to review.

Please also bring along any paperwork related to your condition (such as reports or imaging) and a copy of your referral, if available, from your medical professional. These documents can help your therapist provide the best possible care if not available via other means.

Is there coverage through my insurance?

Many insurance companies cover occupational therapy services, however, if you would like to seek coverage, it is best you contact your provider directly to inquire as general coverage and rates are subject to change.

Do you accept WCB and SGI?

We are a fully accredited care provider for both WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) and SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance), which means we can support clients with workplace injury or motor vehicle accident claims.

Where are you located?

We are located at the YWCA (not YMCA), on the west of Kinsmen Park (Nutrien Playland). The address is 510 25th Street E.

We have a shared treatment space located off the gym.  Upon arrival you can check in at the front desk and wait in the common area or the cafeteria. You will then be directed by your treatment therapist to the treatment space at your scheduled appointment time.

PARKING: There is free parking under the new addition at the front and to the North side of the YWCA building. Make sure you sign in your plate upon arrival to avoid a ticket. If the parking lot is full, there is pay parking along 6th Ave North although this has not been an issue for patrons of the YWCA.
